These are two important
handbooks from the stampless period, which are bound into one volume. Original
copies are difficult to obtain.

The first Postal Laws and
Regulations handbook, which was published after the postage stamps were
issued. It contains new postage rates, the first steamship and American packet
rates.
1102 The United States Postal
Guide and Official Advertiser: 1850 to 1852 $100.00
The complete run, in 2
volumes. This is a rare monthly periodical and few original copies exist outside
the Library of Congress. In many ways, it is similar to U.S. Mail and Post
Office Assistant, published a decade later. Along with postal information,
there are Executive Department notices, Appointments by the President, Consuls
recognized by the State Department, Reports of the Secretary of War and
Secretary of the Navy, Postmaster General, New Postmasters and their
locations. Also includes the Treasury Department, troop locations, assignments,
reports and more. This is a rare source for the postal history student,
genealogist and historian. Stock is very limited.

A unique volume containing
25,000 plus post offices with postmaster names and showing the revenue of each
office. This is an important source of data to assist in judging the relative
scarcity of town marks from various states.

A wonderful handbook, it
contains a list of post offices and the Postal Laws and Regulations. This volume
was first produced after the French Postal Convention of 1857 and has an
up-to-date foreign postage table, including the French mail rates.
