Cover plus Three-page Letter Written on the Eve of the 1862 Peninsular Campaign
A fabulous three page letter written by a son to his father (April 18, 1862).Letter describes a battle along the James River in good detail. Also includes a cover from the same correspondence which is addressed to the son's father who is also in the army and fighting in Missouri. Letter transcription can be provided. $275.00

65 Magnus Bronze - Long Bridge, Washington, By Moonlight No. 3
A rare Magnus full panel design of which very few are known. Stamp tied by Washington, DC, Aug 25, 1862 CDS. PF certificate states that it is genuine, the stamp faulty small tears at the bottom of the cover. Still a very attractive cover with nice eye appeal. $600.00

Chicago Supplementary Mail - To Sherman's March to the Sea
A marvelous Chicago Supplementary Mail use. Dated : December 30, 1864 on the back flap. Sent to a major in care of General Sharman in Savannah, GA. By December of 1864 Sherman's army had left Atlanta and turned to move into the Carolinas. A very interesting war use. $295.00

New York Steamship - Due 7
A strong full strike of N. York Steamship cancel. An incoming steamship letter of unknown origin with manuscript "Due 7". Note the addressee. A beautiful example of this usage. Small back flap tear. $495.00

Brattleville, IL (McDonough Co.) 1834 Stampless
Interesting period letter. This post office was in operation from only 1833 to 1839. It is a rarity 8. Only example that I've seen in 25 years. Ex-Stiss $250.00

Carmi, IL (White Co.) 1819 Stampless
A rare three page letter, posted during the first year of statehood, from southern Illinois. An exceptional travel letter recounting a four month trip by boat and overland to Illinois. Ex-Stiss $250.00

Marvelous early trans-Atlantic use from Illinois. Manuscript "Paid 25". Manuscript British rating mark,  red "2", and straight line "Liverpool; Ship Letter (on back). The outer leaf is present and contains a portion of the letter. $125.00

Unusual  1893 registered use of a Grant Letter Sheet. the letter mentions "enclosed post office order in the amount of

 Incredible Black Jack Valentine – Drop rate
Black Jack tied by blue Burlington, NJ duplex CDS to embossed valentine envelope. Inside is a beautiful lace fold out
envelope which is lined in royal blue. On the back of the fold out it is signed: “From M. E. Z.”.
Inside of that is  a gorgeous four color enamel valentine with a poem attached to the back, which is signed: to“Samuel”.
This is the most  intricate and beautiful 1861 period valentines we have ever seen. $1,500.00
