Gold Medal U.S. Three-Cent Green 1871-79 Continental Bank Note Company Collection Acquired.
We are pleased to announce the acquisition of the John H. Barwis collection of the U.S. Three Cent Green, 1873 - 1879 Continental Bank Note Co. Issue. John's collection received a gold medal and the B.I.A. medal for the best U.S. exhibit at the April 2000 Mega Event in New York City.
It is an exhaustive single-issue study developed over a period of 26 years. The collection contains many wonderful rare and unique pieces. Some of the highlights include: a double impression that is the Scott listing copy, the unique American Bank Note Co. essay, cracked plate, discovery copy on cover, block of nine used to India, Waterbury covers, outstanding NYFM cancels on and off cover and previously unrecorded Chicago blue cancels.
You will find some of John's material offered on the pages that follow. If you have a particular interest please give us a call at 847/215-1231 and we will be happy to tell you what is available. The collection will also be available at our table at Chicagopex this coming weekend.
