Our lead story...

Publishing Venture Ready To Kick Into High Gear

For the past three years we have had a wonderful association with Bill Helbock of La Posta Publications. During that period of time Bill moved to Australia. Prior to that we purchased the entire inventory of the books he had published over the years. Since his move we have partnered with him on publishing the La Posta series of U.S Post Office books. To date, we have released three of the eight volumes. At StampShow in August, Bill asked me to take over both the publishing and marketing of the balance of the series and I agreed. Bill will continue to prepare the manuscripts for the remaining volumes. I will be responsible for having them printed, marketing and distribution. Since this is a substantial financial commitment on our part we will be publishing other philatelic titles as well. Here's a list of titles to be released in 2001 by our new venture, Graphic Phenomena Publishing:

U.S. Post Offices Volume 4 - Northeast. This will include the New England states, New York and Pennsylvania. We expect to have it at The March Party.

Appleton's United States Postal Guide for 1863. There may be only 2 of these in private hands. It contains a complete list of post offices and a significant amount of postal regulation information not found elsewhere. Available mid-2000. There will be a forward by Richard Graham.

Forwarded Mail. This is a complete rewrite and expanded update of an earlier La Posta work titled, "Redirected Mail". The author is Tony Wawrukiewicz. Forwarded Mail is just a working title at this point in time. Available mid-2000.

MSDA POSTAGE STAMP SHOW

January 13th and 14th in Wheeling, IL

That's right! A stamp show right here in my hometown. I will be held on Saturday and Sunday, the second weekend of the New Year at the Palwaukee Inn on Milwaukee Avenue just north of Palatine road. This is right next to Chicagoland's third largest airport, Palwaukee.

Since I was recently elected president of the Midwest Stamp Dealers Association I felt the need to lead by example and have a table at the show. If you live in Northern Illinois this is a show you won't want to miss. There will be 20 dealers from all parts of the Midwest. We will have our entire stock of essays, proofs, postal history and fancy cancels. However, we will only have a sampling of literature. I you plan to attend and want to see a specific title I suggest a call before the show: (847) 215-1231.
