Our lead story...

Essay-Proof Journal Acquired

In the past moth we have received into our warehouse two skids containing the back issues of the "Essay-Proof Journal". This is a project that I have been working on for a couple of years. The renovation of The Collectors Club of New York building this past summer provided the motivation to close the deal. The journals had to be moved before the work was begun on the building. I am indebted to Lou Robbins for his efforts to put the deal together and for the many hours he spent packing and shipping journals.

The shipment contained somewhere between 4 and 5,000 issues of the journal. There are a great number of duplicates between whole numbers 100 and 200. However, there are only a few of each of the early numbers and several numbers for which there are none. So far we have been able to build one run missing only 11 numbers. This is being offered on page 10 in the literature section.

We are now able to fill requests for back issues in an effort to help collectors complete their runs. Several mini runs will be made available in the next issue of "Philately". These runs will be comprised of such ongoing feature stories as: The Finkelburg revision of the Brazer catalog, Minuse and Pratt's work on BNA essays and proofs and Brazer's cataloging of the postal card essays and proofs. Please give us a call, e-mail or fax if you need any back issues or mini runs. At some point in the future we hope to be able to offer an index for the entire 200-issue journal and a price list for the back issues. It is our hope to make this available through our own website and the Essay-Proof Museum.

Color Scan Approval Service

For the past two months we have been experimenting with offering full-color scans of new material to collectors. The process is quite simple. When something comes into stock that would be of interest to a particular client we send them a color scan of the item along with the asking price. If the item is of interest we will then send it out on seven-day approval. This method of providing approval saves everyone time and money. If there is an area you would like to see scans of material from our stock just send us an e-mail to philately2@earthlink.net. For those of you without computers we will be happy to send photocopies of the material.

St. Louis Stamp Expo Changes Location

Mark your calendar for the St. Louis Stamp Expo, March 2nd through the 4th. The show has been moved from the Frontenac Hilton to the St. Louis Airport Hilton Hotel. This new location is locked up for the next six years. It should be the same great show but now in a much better venue than the old Henry VIII Hotel. Hope to meet you in St. Louis.
