Large Bank Note Postal History Collection Acquired

990719.jpg (62963 bytes)

151+155 tied by blue grid killers to reduced envelope that was posted in 1873 at Cincinnati. Marked on back "envelope no. 3" and contained depositions. This is the famed Newbury cover, which appeared in Brookman. PF certificate states that it is genuine with the 90c stamp possessing a crease at the top right. Ex-Newbury, Braus, Wunderlich and Hirschfield (990719) $12,500.00

We recently acquired a beautiful Large Bank Note postal history collection that spans the National, Continental and American issues. This collection was built over a period of about 30 years and contains many incredible covers. The focus was first and foremost on quality. It is balanced between domestic and foreign destination usages. Of the 150+ covers 41 are featured in this issue of our newsletter. The balance of the collection will go up on our web site in about two weeks. A mass e-mail will go out to everyone when this has been accomplished.

Shown here on page one is the incredible "Newbury Cover". The late Lester Brookman shows this cover in the 1966 edition of United States Postage Stamps of the 19th Century. It passed from the Newbury Collection in 1962 to the Braus Collection, the Wunderlich Collection in 1974, the Hirschfield Collection in 1983 and finally to the present collector. It is a large portion of a blue envelope that carried dispositions from Cincinnati, OH to St. Louis, MO. It has been reduced at both the left and right. This is the first time that the cover has been offered privately since Saul Newbury acquired it.

Philadelphia National Stamp Exhibition Moves to New Location

PNSE will move to a new location this fall. It will be held at the QVC Studio Park in West Chester, PA. From what I hear this is a wonderful location. We will have a booth at the show, which is a week before the ASDA Mega Event. Watch for our show mailing which will give you directions to this superb event.

As Yogi said: "It’s Deja Vu All Over Again".
Chicagopex 2001 November 16th - 18th

If you enjoyed StampSHOW 2001, why not return in November for the annual Chicagopex show at the very same location. Sponsored by the Chicago Philatelic Society (oldest chapter in the APS), there will be plenty of exhibits to view, lots of seminars and about 100 dealers to shop. The only thing missing will be the carpet on the floor. The show will play host to the American Revenue Association this year. If you need help with room reservations just give us a call (847/215-1231).
