The First Word

We'll be in Grand Rapids August 4th-7th

In five short weeks StampShow 2005 will convene in the Amway Convention Center in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. We will be in booth number 523 toward the back on the main aisle. The real benefit of StampShow each year is the large amount of out-of-state traffic. I hope Grand Rapids will not prove to be the exception.

Our entire stock of essays, proofs, and postal history will be available at our booth. In addition we will have a large selection of U.S., B.N.A. and Confederate States literature. If there is a specific title that you would like us to bring please call before July 22nd (877-696-8403 toll-free).

The second real benefit to StampShow is the opportunity to meet our clients in person. So if you're in Grand Rapids, between August 4th-7th, please be sure to stop by and say hello.

Special Weekly E-Mail Updates to Resume

In February of this year we retired our Gateway computer system of five years and replaced it with a Dell. It features an up to date version of all Microsoft programs. We had to replace many of our key programs since they would not interface with the newest version Microsoft operating system. One of those programs was our mass e-mail program. It still doesn't work with Outlook. The process is underway to find a program that will work with our system. To date, two prospective programs didn't work. A third is on its way to us and is guaranteed to work on our computer. With luck the e-mail updates will resume on the seventh of July. Thanks to everyone who has emailed about the lack of updates.

Our WASHINGTON 2006 Update

The countdown is on.There are now just 11 months to the opening of WASHINGTON 2006. We will continue to keep you updated about our plans for the show in future issues of our newsletter . In fact, there will be a special Washington 2006 edition of our newsletter which will be mailed 21 days before the show. This will give client who are not attending the show an opportunity at material that we have been putting aside since Pacific '97.

The plan for the literature portion of our booth is complete. We will have a large number of rare out of print philatelic books, both U.S. and foreign. Some of these titles are rarely seen on the retail literature market today.

We are pleased to also announce that our friend of almost 30 years, Bill Weiss, will be using our booth as his base of operations during the show. Bill runs Weiss Philatelic Auctions from Bethlehem, PA.

The buzz about this show just keeps growing. If you have not made your hotel reservations you need to do so today. You can do this through the WASHINGTON 2006 website.

In This Issue

In the three months since our last newsletter we have been busy scowering the countryside for new material worthy of newsletter number 39. I think you'll agree that there are some mighty fine items available in this issue. Our personal favorite is the set of imperf special printings of PR5-7. However, one could make a case for the President Jefferson free frank. The page of large banknote proofs from the Roosevelt album is exceptional as are the plated copies of no. 11.

As I See It is devoted to the United States Philatelic Classic Society. If you are not a member an application form was enclosed with every copy of the newsletter that was mailed. There are some very special one-of-a-kind items on the literature page (p14).

Sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself. See you at StampShow!
