Black Small Die Proofs
These are not the Scott listed black small die proofs. This group originally contained the 1c and 10c values. The 1c is on the one-cent 1861 page. Ron Burns believes that these were pulled by the BEP during the 20th century. The impressions are incredibly strong and each is believed to be unique.

Trial Color Proofs

67TC1af Variety
5c Dark Orange, trial color die proof pulled on India paper, die sunk on 120 x 156mm card with full die sinkage, brilliant color which is darker than that of the cut down Dark Orange proof from the Sigel, Drews sale. Die no. 442 and albino imprint at bottom of India paper, some minor scattered toned spots almost entirely confined to card.

Only one true Buff large die proof is known (67P1). While this does not match the Buff color, it is deeper than the Scott-listed Dark Orange. Richard Drews regarded it as a transitional color between Buff and Red Brown. SCV: $2,500.00 Ex-Drews $1,750.00

10c Black, trial color die proof pulled on India. 41 x 49mm, on original card with die no. 443 at bottom, strong die layout lines, this die state shows the Type II characteristics of Scott 68, Very Fine, a very scarce trial color proof.
