2c Black die proof, which is cut down, pulled on India paper and
still affixed to the original card blotter. The die number “1030” can be
found at the bottom. Since a full size example will sell for $2,500.00
this is very affordable at $995.00
73P1S Variety – Die proof
2c Black die proof (Die 1) pulled on
India paper and mounted on full-size salesmen’s sample page. Open letter
“SPECIMEN” in red. Green imprint at bottom reads: “Specimen Postage
Stamp from the National Bank Note Company, No.1 Wall Street, New York”.
This is the only way
collectors can get an example of Die 1.

portion of the page from the Faust collection. It also contains an
example of a plate scratch on an extra copy of the 1893 printing. Sets
of the five printings are very difficult to put together.

from the chemical coating on the paper. When exposed to a cancelling

sample book. Overprinted with red open letter “SPECIMEN”. There is only
one full size 73P1 full size die proof known to exist (it catalogs
#10,000.00) This is the only other way to get an example of the first
state of the die. $1,750.00
73SB - Specimen single
2c Black, OG, with type B “Specimen” overprint. Typical average
centering for the first two. The third has exceptional centering. Please
